Pipe Reducer Fitting
Pipe reducer is a very common butt weld pipe fitting that used between two different dimensions pipes. It is used where the diameter of the pipe on the upstream side of the fitting is larger than the downstream side. There are two types of them: concentric reducer and eccentric reducer
Concentric Reducer
Concentric reducers resembles a cone, reducers in vertical lines are generally concentric unless the layout dictates otherwise.
Eccentric Reducer
Eccentric reducers have an edge that is parallel to the connecting pipe. The parallel edge results in the two pipes having offset center lines. The same fitting can be used in reverse as an eccentric increaser/expander. Horizontal liquid reducers are always eccentric, it can prevent the build up of air bubbles in the system.
Low Temperature Carbon Steel Pipe Fittings
Low temperature carbon steel pipe fittings is made for low temperature pipe systems and its application temperature falls below -29 degree centigrade during operation. The most popular LTCS materials for buttweld pipe fittings are ASTM A420 WPL3, WPL6.
What is ASTM A420?
ASTM A420 is the standard specification for piping fittings of wrought carbon steel and alloy steel for low temperature service, it specifies the chemical composition and mechanical properties of LTCS seamless and welded pipe fittings, covered by the latest revision of ASME B16.9, ASME B16.11, MSS SP-79, MSS SP-83, MSS SP95 and MSS SP-97.
